Can’t Say I Told You So…. JJ Wins Again. Also Tough Break For NASCAR “Wild-Child” Kyle Busch.

If anyone read my previous blog regarding NASCAR’s top driver, Jimmie Johnson, you would have seen that your favorite blogger on this page predicted the outcome of this weekend’s race at Dover speedway.

That’s right. I hate that I predicted the outcome of the race but it was almost too easy to predict the win by Johnson. After all Dover is statistically his best track. I will spare you all the rundown of the race, but in other news it was a very disappointing day for driver of the 18 M&M machine, Kyle Busch.

Coming into the weekend, Busch was the only driver ever in NASCAR’s long history to sweep a Truck Race, Nationwide Race, and Sprint Cup Race all in the same weekend (Bristol, 2010). Busch won the Truck race on Friday and then followed it up on Saturday with a Nationwide win.  When Sunday came along, the talk in the garage was surrounded on Jimmie Johnson having the fastest car in the field, Busch had different plan for Sunday’s outcome.

Although Busch did dominate the first part of the 400 lap race, a incident caused for his dreams of another weekend sweep to flash before his eyes. Tough break for Kyle. Honestly I would of loved to see anyone else but JJ in victory lane, but hey we move on in life. With that being said, next weekend NASACR moves onto Pocono where Johnson is the defending race winner of the race from a year ago. Hopefully next week there will be a different blog to read congratulating another driver instead of ol ‘Jimmie. #JJAloeBlacc #nosoap

NASCAR's Best Driver Finally Returns to Victory Lane...

Well the 6 time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson has returned to victory lane. After much discussion about when he would eventually win in the 2014 season, Johnson dominated the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday night to finally claim his first checkered flag of 2014. Honestly he will probably be in victory lane more and more in the next couple of weeks.

The next couple of tracks on NASCAR’s circuit play favorite to Johnson’s racing style. These tracks include Dover, Pocono, Michigan, and Sonoma. Even though he hasn’t won at Michigan in his career, Johnson has dominated several races there in fact, in 2012 he blew his engine within the last 10 laps and had to settle for a DNF. Dover is the track where Jimmie is the all time winngest driver in NASCAR’s history and he won the last time the circuit traveled to the track.

It is safe to say it has been enjoyable to witness Jimmie Johnson go on such a losing streak over the past 11 weekends, which is the longest drought of races won by Johnson in his Hall of Fame career, but I speak for most race fans when I say I enjoy seeing the 48 car of his shy away from victory circle. #ihatethe48 #nosoap

Kurt Busch to drive 1,100 Miles Sunday.

The other day I posted an article about the Life of Indy Car driver Dan Wheldon and how this Sunday will mark the three- year anniversary of his 2011 Indianapolis 500 win. Well another headline will break this Memorial Day weekend as NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, will not only compete in NASCAR’s Memorial Day race, the Coca Cola 600, but he will also compete in the race Dan Wheldon won three years ago, the Indianapolis 500, in the same day.

1,100 miles await Kurt Busch on Sunday beginning with a 500-mile race in Indy, which as history tells us takes about 3.5 hours to complete. That race will be at 1 o’clock eastern time and as soon as the checkered flag waves in that event, around 4:30 pm, he will hop on a helicopter and head to Charlotte Motor speedway for the next job on his agenda. The Coca Cola 600 begins at 6:30pm eastern time and that race usually lasts about 4 hours long, being that it is the longest race in NASCAR’s 36 race schedule.

Busch is not the only driver to attempt winning both the Indy 500 and the Coke 600 in the same day. The last driver to take on this challenge was Robby Gordon, who didn’t win either race that day. Though in my opinion, I do believe if any driver out of NASCAR’s elite has a shot it’s Busch to win both events.

Kurt Busch won the 600 mile race in 2010 in dominating fashion, and this season he just so happens to drive for the most dominate team in the series, Stewart Hass Racing, so his chances are again high for another 600 win. As for his Indy chances, he qualified 12th for the race and was very fast in every practice. Although he did wreck during a practice session earlier this weeek, all he has to do Sunday
is stay clean and be smart and he will find his way into the top 3 by the 400 mile mark, where he can make the passes to find victory lane in Indy.
Wishing him the best of luck this weekend as it is always cool to see drivers compete in different series throughout the racing seasons calendar. #somanycircles #nosoap

Real World: Doge Over All. Even in NASCAR?

Every now and then something bizarre happens in sports. Friday night at Charlotte Motor speedway, something bizarre happened to a no named stock car driver.

This weekend NASCAR, celebrates its All Star weekend where the best drivers in the sport compete for a million dollars in “win or go” home event where the winner receives a million dollars. The race consists of previous winners of the previous season, winners of the current season and past winners of the event over the last 10 years.
NASCAR has implemented a race of drivers not eligible to race in the million-dollar event, giving them a chance to race their way into the show. The winner and runner up of this event transfers into the main event with NASCAR’s elite. Friday night, drivers Clint Bowyer and A.J. Almindinger transferred their way into the main event scheduled for Saturday night. Along with those drivers, a driver can make it into by being voted in by the fans.

Now for those of you who don’t know, there is a very attractive female in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series who over the past two years has not won a race. With that it’s a given she would receive the fan vote just off her good looks, Apparently not.

This years fan vote winner was Josh Wise. No you did not read that wrong. The driver of the number 98 Dogecoin.com car won this year’s fan vote over, as mentioned before, highly favored Danica Patrick. You may ask yourself how is this so? Well Wise’s sponsor, Dogecoin.com, went all out to get their driver into the million-dollar event.

Foxsports.com reported that one fan voted over 84,000 times for Wise to make it into the event. His main reason being that, he wanted to see the Dogecoin car in the All Star race. Doge has become a very popular account on Twitter, and with the Doge logo on a NASCAR race car, the fans wanted to see that car fighting it out with NASCAR’s best.

Wishing all the best for Josh Wise in the million-dollar event. History is not on his side however, as only once in the race’s long history has a fan vote winner won the race, which was in 2008 when Kasey Kahne won after being voted in by the fans. But it is safe to say Josh Wise will hear his name being shouted by thousands of people at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as the Dogecoin car makes it way out onto the grid!

                        Wow
                                    Very Wise
                          Such fans

Is Jimmie Johnson Suffering From A Championship Hangover?

I know what you’re thinking. Peyton, another NASCAR article? Yes people, someone’s got to do it and I am privileged to deliver this bit of information to you. As most of you know, one man has dominated the sport for the last 8 years. That man is Jimmie Johnson. Why am I about to write something on this guy? Well the best driver in NASCAR is winless through 10 races this season. With that being said, only 8 drivers have seen victory lane this season with only two, two time winners this season.

In recent history, Johnson has dominated the sport winning an average of 5 wins a season since 2006. In that span he has also won 6 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships, which is one title behind the all time record set by Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. It seems a little odd that such a dominant driver is winless through 10 races in this young NASCAR season (36 races make up a season).

Johnson is essentially a favorite to win every single week no matter what track the series races on. In fact, a few races this season Johnson was in position to claim a checkered flag or two. In Fontana California, Jimmie led just about every lap in the long 400-mile race until a tire issue with fewer than 10 laps to go ruined his day. The next week in Martinsville, Virginia Johnson found himself again in the lead late poised for victory until Kurt Busch passed him with only a few laps remaining to go on and win the race.

It isn’t every day that Jimmie Johnson makes a mistake that costs him a victory, whether it be technical or human error, the guy always seems to have everything go his way. This is why it is so unusual to see him winless through almost a third of the season. This season offers a new rule change for making the Chase for the Sprint Cup, which is NASCAR's form of a playoff system. When a driver wins a race, they are locked into the final 10 race playoff like chase for the championship, and through 10 races Johnson remains winless. With that being said, there are some good tracks coming up that could help Johnsons bid at victory this season.

This weekend the series travels to Kansas Speedway (S/O to fellow blogger Montana Samuels) where Johnson has won two times with the last victory coming in 2011. The next two tracks after this weekend are Charlotte, North Carolina where Jimmie has won the last two All Star Race events held at the track the past two years. Dover, Delaware after that where Johnson is the all time winningest driver at the 1 mile oval.

Point to be made here for Jimmie Johnson fans is simple. There is hope for your driver. For all others, enjoy the break from seeing the 48 car doing burnouts after a dominating Sunday drive because unfortunately he will win this season. #JJhasnowins #nosoap
