The other day I posted an article about the Life of Indy Car
driver Dan Wheldon and how this Sunday will mark the three- year anniversary of
his 2011 Indianapolis 500 win. Well another headline will break this Memorial
Day weekend as NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, will not only compete in NASCAR’s
Memorial Day race, the Coca Cola 600, but he will also compete in the race Dan
Wheldon won three years ago, the Indianapolis 500, in the same day.
Busch is not the only driver to attempt winning both the
Indy 500 and the Coke 600 in the same day. The last driver to take on this
challenge was Robby Gordon, who didn’t win either race that day. Though in my
opinion, I do believe if any driver out of NASCAR’s elite has a shot it’s Busch
to win both events.
Kurt Busch won the 600 mile race in 2010 in dominating
fashion, and this season he just so happens to drive for the most dominate team
in the series, Stewart Hass Racing, so his chances are again high for another
600 win. As for his Indy chances, he qualified 12th for the race and
was very fast in every practice. Although he did wreck during a practice session earlier this weeek, all he has to do Sunday
is stay clean and be smart
and he will find his way into the top 3 by the 400 mile mark, where he can make
the passes to find victory lane in Indy. Wishing him the best of luck this weekend as it is always cool to see drivers compete in different series throughout the racing seasons calendar. #somanycircles #nosoap
