Kevin Durant's MVP speech is EXACTLY what you want from a superstar

For every person who has ever cared as much about a sport as Kevin Durant does, or even any person who ever dreamt of being a professional athlete, it is no secret that you live vicariously through your favorite athletes.

Too often we hear about these athletes doing things off the field or saying things in post game interviews that make us cringe. Kevin Durant's MVP acceptance speech was not one of those moments. It's always refreshing to hear a superstar be as humble and grateful as KD is. Not to mention the guy is the best pure scorer since Jordan, and maybe better (yeah I said it).

DC is a rough area, and it's all too telling when Durant says that his childhood dream was to be a rec league coach. Hell, I was a 5"11' fat kid from Kansas and I thought for sure that I was destined to be a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer. The fact that KD didn't even think he'd go to college should be a frightening sign to everyone not up to speed on the epidemic that is going on in underprivileged areas in America. These places need help. "Basketball is just a platform for me to inspire people." Light speed KD, we need more guys like you.

PS- if you don't struggle to not tear up when KD addresses him mom you don't have a heart. Utmost respect to Momma KD and single mothers around the world.
